12TH GRADE (SENIORS) SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT

 

Instructions:

1.  SENIORS must read WUTHERING HEIGHTS BY EMILY BRONTE (UNABRIDGED VERSION).  Then complete the      following assignment.

            2. At the top of your assignment, supply the following information.

a) Your name and grade level

b) Parentís name, signature, and contact information. (Parent signature certifies that the work you submit is yours.)

c) Author, title, publisher, date and place of publication of each book.

3. Format: Your essay should be two to three pages long. Type the assignments (double-spaced, in a Times New Roman 12-point font with one-inch margins).  (Please no graphics!)

            4. Assignments are due on the first day of school. You will be tested on your summer reading.

            5. The grade you earn on your summer reading assignment will count for as a test score for first marking period grade

 

Your assignment must be in essay form,and it should include the following:

 

A. PLOT DEVELOPMENT--DISCUSS THE CONFLICT(S) IN THE NOVEL.

 

B. ANALYSIS OF THEME(S)

 

C. CHARACTER STUDY--How do the characters grow or change as a result of the above conflict? Write a paragraph describing the significance of the changes. Use at least one QUOTE from the book to support your idea.

 

D. PERSONAL CONNECTION: What have you learned from this book? How might what you have learned influence your life?
