Mission
St. Joseph High School, the only Catholic
secondary school on St. Croix, is called to foster a comprehensive
learning experience that develops spiritual awareness, intellectual
talents, personal responsibility, and social consciousness in every
student, regardless of creed or ethnicity. Upon leaving St. Joseph
High School for post secondary education, students will be equipped
with excellent academic skills, a sense of their own spirituality,
and a commitment to social justice.
Beliefs
We believe that
- SJHS is built upon the strengths, talents,
and resources of our students, educators, and community.
- A solid foundation in Christian values and
moral character fosters a lived expression of our faith.
- Our multi-cultural and multi-ethnic school
population mirrors that of St. Croix and affords us the
opportunity to welcome and respect diversity.
- All students should be held personally
accountable for their actions and successes.
- Extracurricular activities are a means of
building self-esteem, developing talents, encouraging
participation and school spirit, and achieving
self-fulfillment.
- All children can learn when they are
challenged and given the needed support.
- A highly qualified faculty will promote
academic excellence and integrity.
- The school should cultivate an environment
that fosters respect for oneself and others.
- Faculty and students abiding by Christian
values are essential to a community atmosphere of acceptance and
respect.
- The development of the whole child is
important: spiritually, academically, morally, emotionally,
socially, and physically.
